Funeral service for Roy Thornton 48, (formerly of Lincoln) will be on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the A.F.M. National Youth Campground, US Hwy 78, Lincoln with Bishop James Truss officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Church Cemetery. Mr. Thornton remains will arrive two hours prior to his services. Mr. Thornton passed away on June 30, 2014 at Regional Medical Center. He graduated from Lincoln High School and was employed at Legacy Cabinets. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Patton Thornton; children, Lashundra Patton and Carlos Patton; grandchildren, Kevali and Kelis; his mother, Lucy Thornton; siblings, Willie (Clara) McCluney, James Thornton, Randy (Virginia) Thornton, Minnie (Jessie) Walker, Peggy (Stevie) Weed, Tilda and Eleaner Thornton; mother-in-law, Mary Birdsong; in-laws, Felicia (John), Schronda (Darrion) and Gerald;, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommie L. Thornton;, grandparents, Annie Turner, Roy McCluney and Walter B. Turner; nephew, Lozarus Groce; niece, Til Groce.
