Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Rufus Carr, Sr., 96, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Saint Paul C.M.E. Church. The Reverend Hurley V. Grissom will officiate and burial will be in Jacksonville City Cemetery. His family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Carr passed away January 15, 2018 at Jacksonville Medical Center. Mr. Carr was a native and life long resident of Jacksonville. He was retired from the Anniston City Schools and was a U.S. Army WW II Veteran. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church. Mr. Carr is preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Thomas Carr; children, Bruce Lamar Carr, Beverly Carr Gates and Valerie Carr; brothers, Charles Lee Carr and Milton Carr. Mr. Carr is survived by children, Rufus Carr, Jr., Bernard Carr, Milton Carr, Crystal Carr Richardson; and granddaughter he raised, Shoshana "Nikki" Carr; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew, Charlene Elston, Carolyn Green, Bobby Carr; and several great nieces and nephews.
