Funeral service for Ruth Atkisson, 91, will be today, March 21, 2017, 1 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of White Plains. The Rev. Eric Snider will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Atkisson passed away on Saturday at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Hamner (Bill), Judi Murray; grandchildren, Lindsey Pearson (Chuck), Courtney Darden (Blake), Ashley Dorsett (Scott), Curt Murray, McKenzie Deso (Andy); eight great-grandchildren, Anna and Jamie Ruth Pearson, Peyton, Jacob and Hayden Darden, Logan Williamson, Chandler and Tanner Dorsett, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chuck Pearson, Blake Darden, Scott Dorsett, Curt Murray, Andy Deso and Bill Hamner Jr. Mrs. Atkisson was a resident of White Plains and was a member of The First Baptist Church of White Plains. Mrs. Atkisson was preceded in death by her husband, George Atkisson; grandson, Jamie Russell, and a great- granddaughter, Haylie Darden. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother with a gentle sprit and giving heart. We loved her so much and will miss her greatly. Miller Funeral Home 256-831-4611
