Heflin - Ruth E. Crowson, 85, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 04, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Heflin with the Rev. Buford Gaines, and the Rev. Micheal Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill City Cemetery, Huntsville. Visitation will be this evening, April 03, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dryden Funeral Home. Survivors include, daughter, Kayren (Connor) Freeman, of Delta (Abel); sons, David (Alicia) Crowson, of Lithonia, Ga., Danny (Tommie) Crowson, Delta (Abel), and Joel Willard Crowson, of Heflin; sister, Juanita LeCroy, of Huntsville; brother, - Ezell Esslinger, of Huntsville; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ray Taylor, Tommy Gaines, Gene Daugherty, Gary Wright, Farrell Turner, and Donald Dewberry. Honorary pallbearers are The Mattie Williamson / B.W. Thompson Sunday School Class and the Seniors from the Heflin Senior Center. Mrs. Crowson a native of Huntsville had been a resident of Heflin for the past 50 years. She was a retired school teacher and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Heflin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Richard Crowson and son, Johnny Paul Crowson.
