Sammy Gaines Moore passed away February 13, 2018. Long-time resident of Anniston, Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Mildred Moore and his brother Shorty Moore. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucy Gardner Moore, his four children, Diana Morea, Kim Moore (Gwen), Tammy Moore Morse-Jones (Marc), Tom Moore (Janet), as well as eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Sammy grew up in Fayette, Alabama and lettered in basketball and track at the University of Alabama. After a brief stint in the Army, he returned to Alabama where he taught, coached and counseled in high schools in Hartselle and Anniston. He had a positive impact on all the young men he coached. In retirement he loved to fish and work with his beloved Border Collies. He started and hosted for many years the Alabama State Border Collie championships. Sammy was a content man who was loved dearly by his friends and family. He will be missed until they meet again in glory with his Savior, Jesus Christ.
