Mr. Sammy Lewis Rhinehart, 81, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Mr. Rhinehart was born on March 27, 1936 in Cherokee County, a son of the late Donald and Nancy McFall Rhinehart. In addition to his parents, Sammy was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Bevels Rhinehart; his grandson, Brandon Rhinehart; his sisters, Sara R. Wallace, Estelle Hinton, Mattie Bell Williams and Edna Tierce; his brothers, Clyde Rhinehart, Reese Rhinehart, Winford Rhinehart, Albert Rhinehart, G.W. Rhinehart and John Rhinehart. A longtime resident of Cedartown, Ga., Sammy and his family knew no strangers and he loved so many. He touched countless numbers of lives and helped anyone he could. He was a retired from the Cedartown Paperboard Company after many years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, Sam went on to serve in the field of security, working for the Polk Medical Center, while it was under the management of Redmond Regional Medical Center and HCA. After leaving there, he went on to work for security with the Wal-Mart Corporation. Sammy had the distinction of being one of the first Special Deputy Sheriff's, ever appointed by then, Polk County Sheriff Seals W. Swafford. He was also one of the founding members of the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department from years ago and had served as Chief of the Prior Station Unit. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his loving family, his children, Denzel and Patty Rhinehart and Nancy and Randall Green; his brother, Fred Rhinehart; his sister, Ruth Rutherford; his grandchildren, Shad Green, Randi Green, Daniel Rhinehart, Patrick Rhinehart and Brad Rhinehart; his great-grandchildren, Alexis Rhinehart, Carter Green, Kaylee Green and three others; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mr. Sammy L. Rhinehart will be conducted this afternoon, April 29, 2017, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Mr. Tony Brazier officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Northview Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 12 p.m. until service time at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home. The following gentlemen will serve as Pallbearers, Wendell Lyle, Frank Rhinehart, Steve Molock, Roger Landrum, Sammy White and Scott May.
