Funeral service for Samuel Curtis "Bit" Turner, 80, will be today at 2 p.m. at Lloyds Chapel Baptist Church, 3400 Bynum Leatherwood Rd. in Anniston. Burial will follow at Heflin City Cemetery. Mr. Turner passed away October 19, 2014. He was born August 19, 1934 and was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He retired from truck driving Southwire in Carrollton Ga. in 1996. Mr. Turner was a member and Deacon of Lloyds Chapel Baptist Church in Anniston. Mr. Turner is survived by three children Elsie Nix, of Arab, Carolyn Green (Jerry), of Anniston and Ralph Stewart Jr., of Anniston; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Chumley, Ronnie Whiteside, Lucretia Baggett, Keith Lett, Kelly Woodard, Kristy Langley, Kenneth Barker, Sandy Yates, Kerry Wright and Kasey Hall; 25 great- grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Turner and family, Jimmy Turner and family, and Darrell Turner and family; five sisters, Louise Mitchell and family, Catherine Murphy and family, Macy Headrick and family, Linda Truett and family and Lillian Preston and family; 12 nephews and 19 nieces. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Turner; father, Sam Turner; mother, Pearl Turner; daughters, Jeanette Whiteside and Shirlane Barker; grandson, Mark Whiteside; great-great-granddaughter, Kindle Martin; granddaughters, Samantha Mize and Linda Whiteside; brothers, Howard Turner, Randall Turner and Benny Turner; sisters, Marie Willingham and Cora Lou Hammond.
