Sandra Mostellar of Shelby County, passed away May 22, 2015. She was born in Birmingham, Ala. on January 5, 1943. Sandra Lowery graduated from Woodlawn High School and received a Math Degree from Auburn University. She was married to Murphy Mostellar Jr. on April 5, 1969. Sandra had a career in System Programming for NCR, but has been a housewife for the past 44 years. She had a passion for reading, knitting, cross stitching, and fishing. Sandra is survived by her mother, Ethel Lowery, of Hoover, Ala.; husband of 46 years, James Murphy Mostellar Jr.; daughter, Jan Butler, of New York, N.Y.; son, Michael Mostellar, of Auburn, Ala.; grandsons, Quinlan and Stellan Butler, of New York, N.Y.; brother, John Lowery III, of Clanton, Ala.; sister, Margo Jeffery, of Pelham, Ala. The visitation will be at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday the 29, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Saturday the 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Building Fund or The in Sandra's name.
