Service for Sara Sullivan Dobson, 83, will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Wedowee with visitation Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee. She is survived by her husband, Max Dobson and two daughters, Lee Robbins Eason and DeLaine Dobson Pearson.
299256|112304|850|20150211|20150211|FORTENBERRY Glencoe - Hoyt Fortenberry, 80, of Glencoe passed away on February 7, 2015, surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters. Memorial service will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Jenkins officiating. Cremation services provided by Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home. Mr. Fortenberry was born and raised in Cherokee County. He was the son of Lige and Nora Whitten Fortenberry. He was a 1953 graduate of Cherokee County High School. In 1957, he moved to Calhoun County and later to Etowah County where he owned and operated Crossroads Food Mart and Storage. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Pollard's Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents brothers, Jim, Ollie, Clyde, Loyd, and Jack, sister; Ruby Cook; granddaughter, Annie; great-grandson, Hunter; son-in-law, Wayne Alldredge. He is survived by his daughters, Kay (Harry Campbell) Condit, Jean Alldredge; his granddaughters, Brittany Price and Katie (Matt) Brown; sisters, Haney Naugher, of Centre, and Joyce Lovett, of Florida; his brother, Jerry, of Georgia. Mr. Fortenberry loved the outdoors, American Saddle Bred horses and his girls, Kay, Jean, Brittany, and Katie. The family requests no food or flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Association at or to Shiloh-Bothwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Revelations 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore for the former things have passed away.
