Funeral service for Sarah B. Jackson, 91, will be today, December 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont with the Rev. Tom Moye officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Thompson Funeral Home Monday evening. Mrs. Jackson passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Jackson Otero and her husband, Arturo, of Tuscaloosa and Linda Jackson Gowens, of Piedmont; son-in-law, Harry O'Neal, of Piedmont; three grandchildren, Karen O'Neal Goss and her husband, Michael, of Piedmont, Vickie O'Neal Croft and her husband, Eddy, of Glencoe and Kayla Gowens, of Piedmont; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Goss and Sarah Goss and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Harry O'Neal, Art Otero, Jacob Goss, Bobby Black, Barry Black, Tony Mathis, Lynn Mathis and Gerald Black. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Frank Wofford Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont. Mrs. Jackson was born in Mt. Holly, North Carolina and had been a longtime resident of Piedmont. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont and First United Methodist Women - Circle 4. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, being outdoors, taking care of her family, fellowship with her church and donating her time for charitable work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fowler Jackson Jr.; a daughter, Ann Jackson O'Neal; her parents, Robert and Pearl Black; five brothers, Russell, Hoover, Kenneth, Carroll and Boyce Black; four sisters, Erma Black, Lucille B. Caldwell, Margie B. Mathis and Thelma B. Fletcher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont, 300 N.
