Funeral service for SFC Holley Lynwood Comer, 79, U.S. Army Retired, will be at 3 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Dr. Deryl Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service, on Monday. Burial will be in Post Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. SFC Comer departed this earth on Friday, June 19, 2015. He went to be with his Lord and to reunite with Carolyn, his loving wife and best friend of 61 years. He is survived by his son, Holley "Lynn" (Terri) Comer, of Anniston; his daughter, Angie (Marshall) Harvey, of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Tabitha (Jared) Slaton, of Jacksonville, Adam (Anne) Harvey, of Jacksonville, Stephanie (Jeremy) Buchanan, of Weaver and Ashley (Jeff) Thompson, of Alexandria; eight great-grandchildren, Cammie, Colby, Andrew, Hunter, Emma, McKinlee, Parker and Becca Kate; two brothers, Earl (Joyce) Comer, of Oxford and Larry "Pete" (Sandy) Comer, of Wellington; one sister, Charlotte (Ron) Brewer, of Munford; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gordon Morris, Colby Gaines, Jeremy Buchanan, Jeff Thompson, Eric Morris and Ricky Comer. SFC Comer honorably served his country of 20 years in the U.S. Army, receiving many medals and commendations. He spent five tours overseas to include Vietnam. He also retired from ANAD after 20 plus years of service. He actively served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Post Oak Springs Baptist Church, where he faithfully served his Lord. SFC Comer was a loving and devoted husband, father and "Nana". SFC Comer was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Comer; his sister, Juanita McGinnis; and three infant brothers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his nurse, Jamie and to New Beacon Hospice for their continued loving care.
