Services for Shirley Goss Davis, 81, will be Friday, September 22, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Dr. Lewis Conaway and Pastor Michael Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Davis passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at RMC Jacksonville. Survivors include husband of 63 years, John Clyde Davis; children, Carol Sanford (James) of Pleasant Gap, Rhonda Roland (Randall) of Huntsville, and Sharon Allen of Pleasant Gap; four grandchildren, Gentry Sanford, Brittain Sanford (Britt Sandlin), Wesley Roland (Kaitlin), and Brett Allen; two sisters, Peggy Cash of Marietta, Ga., and Deb Parris (Bruce) of Piedmont; one brother, Jerry Goss (Debbie) of Piedmont; sister-in-law, Debra Goss of Piedmont; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Erica Morgan, B.J. Hallett, Carole Rhinehart, Joyce Smith, and Crystal Smith. Pallbearers will be Brittain Sanford, Wesley Roland, Jeff Cash, Brian Goss, Jeremy Coffey, David Coffey, Andrew Wheeler and Bret Parris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dan Smith, Sam Morgan, and David Swan. Mrs. Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County and the surrounding area. She was a 1954 Piedmont High School graduate and a member of Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, gardening, music, and spending time with family. Anyone that knew her, loved her and was blessed by her presence. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Pluma Goss; and brother, Steve Goss. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272 or favorite charity.
