Stella Marie Holmes went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 28, 2016. Her life will be remembered by the legacy she left as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The delight of her life was being a grandmother and the memories created with her grandchildren. Marie retired from the Calhoun County School system after 28 years of service. She was a devoted member and teacher at Eastaboga Baptist Church. The joy and peace of her Christian life was recognizable to all who knew her. She lived her life as a celebration of the blessings that she knew came from her Lord. She is survived by her sons, Shannon Holmes (Susan), of Windsor, N.C., and Nathan Holmes (Brigett) of White Plains; the loves of her life, her grandchildren, AnnaLeigh, Olivia, Shelby and Aaron, and her brother, James Sims, many nephews, nieces, and friends from everywhere. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Toland "Buster" and Clyde Sims. There will be an intimate time of receiving family and close personal friends Monday, August 1. Her wish was for a private service for her family. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Save-A-Life Calhoun County or your local crisis pregnancy center.
