The funeral service for Mrs. Stella Ward, 91, will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Burial will follow at Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 14985 County Road 65, Roanoke, AL. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ward passed away on September 9, 2015 at NHC in Anniston. Mrs. Ward graduated from Handley High School, in Roanoke, in 1942. She worked as the secretary to the vice president at Maryland Casualty Insurance Company for 19 years. She concluded her career working nine years for Dixie Bearings in the Atlanta and Anniston offices. She was a member of McCoy United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Anniston Women's Club. She was given a lifetime membership to the PTA at Sylvan Hills High School in Atlanta for her many years of service. Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband of 68 years, Nathan Ward, of Anniston; a daughter, Sheryl Hightower and her husband, David, of Anniston and Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Fred Hester and his wife, Connie, of Anniston, and many nieces and nephews who "Aunt Stella" loved very much. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Big Springs Baptist Church, PO Box 1312, Roanoke, AL 36274. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
