Stewart L. Bowman, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Odenville on December 7, 2016. He was preceded into glory by his infant son, Dwight Edward Bowman; father, William Abner Bowman; mother, Zela Stewart Bowman; siblings, Verlie Willingham, Ruth Willingham, Arvilla "Pete" Vernon, Laney Bowman, Mell Bowman and Bob Bowman; daughter-in-law, Karen Bowman and granddaughter, Tina Morton. He was a Calhoun County native attending Ranburne, Saks and Anniston High School, where he was an accomplished basketball player. He was a barber by trade, a singer at heart and an avid Alabama football fan. He barbered for 10 years in Anniston and 30 years at Bowman's Barber Shop in Cahaba Heights. He sang for most of his life with his family and various quartets ending with The Pioneers. He blessed through leading music at Bethel Baptist Church in Moody for over 10 years. He was especially blessed and survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; sister, Bertie Bentley; children, Charlotte Hollis (Joe), Terry Bowman, Laura Bowman, Tony Bowman (Renae) and Jill Davis (David); grandchildren, Mark Bowman, Josh Davis (Samantha), Melissa Bowman, Jacob Davis (Candice), Ashlie Bowman and Heather Statum; great-grandchildren, Austin Raymond, Aydan, Casey, Emma Kate and Amelia Davis. He was also blessed by faithful friends, Larry Hallmark, Thom Stembridge and the nurses of Comfort Care Hospice of Talladega. Most of all he lived a life of joy in his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Family and friend remembrance will be Monday, December 12, 2016, at 6 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church with celebration of life at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gideons International for Bibles.
