Funeral service for Mr. Stuart H. Rice Sr., 90, was held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 2 PM at Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Becky Davis and Clint McCall officiating. Burial followed at Oxford Memorial Gardens. Mr. Rice passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. He is survived by his four children, Stuart Rice, Deedre Rice Jones (Don), Buddy Rice, Beth Rice Rigsby (Chuck); grandchildren, Kristy, Brandon, Catherine, Stuart, Emily, Lauren, Maddie, Emma, and Cooper, and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Annie Rice; wife, Callie Rice; brothers, Alfred C. Rice Jr. and Christian Rice, and sister, Frances Rice Rollins. Pallbearers will be Andy McCall, Scott McCall, Mike Roberts, Don Jones, Brandon Jones, Chuck Rigsby and Cooper Scott. Stuart was born October 10, 1926 in Farmville, Va. At 17, he left high school and joined the United States Navy. After serving, he returned and graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia. He moved to Alabama and attended Anniston Business College, where he met his wife, Callie. After graduating from business college, he went on to work as an accountant at Cheaha International for 30 years. Stuart was an avid Hamm radio operator. He also loved the outdoors, was passionate about music, reading, poetry and enjoyed spending time with family. He was a member of Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Stuart was a Christ-follower, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by us all, but we are ever thankful that he is completely restored and forever rejoicing with his wife and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Miller Funeral Home 256-831-4611
