A time of gathering and celebrating the life of Suzanne Harris will be on Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 12 until 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Suzanne was born on May 26, 1947 to Clyde and Bettye Harris, and passed away on June 15, 2016. Survivors include her aunt, Betty Harris; a cousin-in-law, Brenda Harris, and life-long best friends, Darlene House and Gloria Whitley. Because Suzanne never had children of her own, she was considered a surrogate mother to Lori House Henderson, Lee House Irby, Kari House Ingram, Mike Harris, Jason Harris, Michael Whitley and Chris Galloway, and was a surrogate grandmother to their children, Coleman Irby, Reagan Irby, Collins Irby, Taylor Reid, McKenzie Reid, Bentley Harris, Emory Harris, Ashlyn Weathington, Noah Harris and Natalie Harris. Suzanne was retired from the Calhoun County School system with over 30 years as an elementary school teacher. During her teaching years, she made such an impact in the lives of the children in the Alexandria Community. In lieu of flowers Suzanne would have wanted donations be given in her honor. Suzanne was very passionate about ALS Research, please consider a donation to the Alabama ALS Research Center. www.alsa.org "click on the donate button". www.millerfuneral homeoxford.com Miller Funeral Home & Crematory Oxford, AL (256) 831-4611 A Brown Service Authorized Funeral Home Chosen #1 funeral home by the readers of The Anniston Star for 6 consecutive years.
