Suzanne (Susie) McGuire Pawsat passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Piedmont Health Care Center. Susie was born on September 12, 1944 and raised in the small community of Keota, Iowa. She received her RN degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City in 1966. She married David Pawsat in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Susie worked as an Intensive Care Nurse at Deaconess Hospital while her husband completed his studies at Marquette University. After graduation in 1969, Pawsat joined the U.S. Army Dental Corps and Susie began a 25 year career as a very supportive officer's wife. Military life led to assignments in Italy, Germany and numerous stateside locations. One of the latter was Ft. McClellan which prompted their decision to retire in Alabama in 1994. Susie cherished the friendships she made during her years as a member of the Christian Women's Club and as a coordinator of Stonecroft Ministries. She was also a loyal volunteer with Interfaith Ministries and the Center of Concern. Susie was the loving mother of three children: David (Sally) of Austin, Texas, Heather Hajdik (Brock) of Houston, Texas and Heidi Rounds (Eric) of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and proud grandmother of eight. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27th at St. Charles Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Visitation with family will be at 10 AM followed by mass at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Interfaith Ministries, 1431 Gurnee Ave., Anniston, AL 36201 or the All Saints Interfaith Center, 1513 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201.
