Service for Terry Austin Adkinson, 77, will be today, December 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Jackson and the Rev. Matt Turner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Adkinson passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. He is survived by two daughters, Judy Studdard (Kenneth) and Christi Frisby (Wesley), all of Piedmont; three grandchildren, Kayla Winkles, Brianna Winkles and Austin James Studdard, all of Piedmont; a chosen grandson, Kevin Wiggins, of Piedmont; four brothers, Frank Adkinson, of Cedartown, Ga., Donald Adkinson (Linda), of Piedmont, Jay Hugh Adkinson (Judy) and Douglas Adkinson, all of Spring Garden; special friends, Mary Wiggins, Wayne Reynolds and Ruth Maddox and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gary Adkinson, Josh Adkinson, Jeff Rader, Allen Adkinson, Kevin Wiggins and T. J. Rader. Mr. Adkinson was a resident of Piedmont most of his life and was a member of the Piedmont Congregational Holiness Church. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from the City of Piedmont where he worked many years in the Electrical Department and had been a volunteer fireman.Mr. Adkinson was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Edna Louise Adkinson. www.thompsonfuneralhomepiedmont.com
