A memorial service for Thomas John Mullen Jr., 71, will be Monday, November 17, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Father James Macey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1-3 p.m. Mr. Mullen died on Friday, November 14, 2014, at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Best Mullen, of Weaver; four daughters, Jeanine Bailey and her husband, Travis of Madison, Melissa Mullen, of Calera, Christine Sanchez and Carolyn Kight, both of Cali.; three grandchildren that their grandfather loved teaching and helping them grow, Sean Bailey, Connor Bailey and Evin Bailey, all of Madison; three nephews, Chris Mullen, Matt Young and Alan Aho; four nieces, Shari Best Laterrade, Tammy Aho, Jessica Best and Leila Best. Mr. Mullen was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Jacksonville. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp which included a tour in Vietnam. He worked as a turbine engine mechanic at Anniston Army Depot for 23 years. Mr. Mullen loved his country and was a very patriotic individual. He volunteered as a civil servant at AOD during Desert Storm, to support the military. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Joan Mullen and two brothers, Gerald and Glennon Mullen.
