A memorial service for Thomas John Mullen Jr., 71, will be Monday, November 17, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Father James Macey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1-3 p.m. Mr. Mullen died on Friday, November 14, 2014, at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Best Mullen, of Weaver; four daughters, Jeanine Bailey and her husband, Travis, of Madison, Melissa Mullen, of Calera, Christine Sanchez and Carolyn Kight, both of Calif.; three grandchildren, Sean Bailey, Connor Bailey and Evin Bailey, all of Madison; three nephews, Chris Mullen, Matt Young and Alan Aho; five nieces, Shari Best Laterrade, Michele Best-Miller, Tammy Aho, Jessica Best and Leila Best. Mr. Mullen was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Jacksonville. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp which included a tour in Vietnam. He retired from Anniston Army Depot as a turbine engine mechanic. He volunteered to deploy during Desert Storm to support his country. He was a proud grandfather and enjoyed spending time teaching his grandsons about history and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Joan Mullen and two brothers, Gerard and Glennon Mullen. Online condolences to the family at www.klbrownfuneralhome.com. K.L.
