Funeral service for Specialist Timothy Dale Parrish Jr. will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at noon in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. There will also be a visitation on Saturday for an hour before the service. Mr. Parrish is survived by his father Tim Parrish; mother, Teresa Darity; sisters, Annie Parrish and Samantha Dutton; brother-in-law, Heath Dutton; niece, Alli Dutton; nephew, Gage Dutton; uncles, Greg Parrish, Philip Parrish, Jerry Colella; aunts, Donna Colella, Beverly Whitten; cousins, Alex Colella, Jake Parrish, Tyler Whitten, Jessica Whitten; grandmother, Gladys Thomas. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Parrish and Frank Darity; grandmothers, Betty Mcgough and Ann Parrish. Mr. Parrish attended Oxford High School for a short period and graduated from Carbon Hill High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. In the Army, he served one combat tour in Afghanistan in 2012. He was a specialist in Army for the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. For the last ten months, he worked supporting the 3rd Brigade Combat Team while they were deployed in Afghanistan. While in the Army he received many awards, some of which include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Air Assault Badge.
