Funeral service was held for Timothy (Tim) Hughes, 62, formerly of Anniston, Monday, June 13, 2016 at Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Visitation was held prior to the service with a rosary following the service. Survivors include his wife, Gwen Hughes; children, Jessica Zahn and Christopher Malpas; several grandchildren; brother, Patrick (Pat) Hughes (Sally), of Anniston, and nephew, Parker Hughes, of Huntsville. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Paul W. and Marian L. Hughes. Mr. Hughes was valedictorian of the 1972 Anniston High School graduating class. He attended Auburn University on a Presidential Scholarship after receiving and accepting an invited walk on status to play football for Auburn University. After receiving his engineering degree from Auburn University in 1976, Mr. Hughes worked for PP&G in Louisiana before moving to Mobile to start an engineering recruiting firm which he owned and operated until his death. Mr. Hughes was an accomplished golfer winning the 1992 Sunny King Charity Classic with his brother, Pat. Mr. Hughes was the quint essential family man who had a heart of gold which he inherited from his mother. He was a friend to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
