Funeral service for Tommy Hamlin Haynes, 83, will be held today, August 29, 2015, at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford with the Rev. Roy Cordle and the Rev. Scott Whetstone officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 p.m. with the service following immediately in the Funeral Home Chapel. After the Funeral Home service, a private interment will be held at Eulaton United Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Haynes was born July 15, 1932 to Lena and Asa Haynes in the Shady Glenn community near Anniston. He died on August 27, 2015 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston following an extended illness. Mr. Haynes served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He retired from Anniston Army Depot. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by parents Lena and Asa Haynes; brothers, Paul, David, AC and Loy and sister, Alice Haynes Pettus. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty W. Haynes; his daughter, Donna Gray (David); sons, Allen and Tim; two grandchildren, Julie Talley (Josh) and Meagan Lanier (Evan); two great- grandchildren, Gray and Kyrie Lanier; one sister, Eris Waldrep and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Josh Talley, Evan Lanier, Randy Haynes, Mike Haynes, Roger Hutchinson and Richard Sellers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of New Haven Baptist Church.
