The funeral service for Ula Jay Jones, Ed.D., 89, will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with Dr. Mack Amis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Forestlawn Mausoleum. Dr. Jones passed away on March 23, 2016 at home. Dr. Jones was member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and the Street Sunday School Class. He had also served his church as a Deacon. He served his country with honor by serving in the US Army Infantry during World War II with various assignments including Okinawa and Korea. He received an Honorable discharge in 1946. He taught in public schools for five years before going in the civil service for a career of 34 years, retiring in 1989. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.A. and Leavie Jones, two sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty P. Jones, of Anniston. He also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and members of the Street Sunday School Class at Parker Memorial Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church, 1205 Quintard Avenue, Anniston, AL 36201.
