Venecia Benefield Butler, born to Charles and Sandra Benefield, May 19, 1964 - April 23, 2015 found her healing in God's loving arms. She was married to Curtis Butler as a loving and understanding wife. She was a mother who loved unconditionally to Nathan, her son and Chelsea, her daughter. They were her most prized possessions of pride and joy. She was the sister to Randa Carroll ( Bobby Joe Carroll), who she adored as her "Boss" and "PA" with each passing day. Venecia cherished each day given with a positive attitude, thanking God with a smile, her wit and gentle spirit of giving. She left her job in 2012 to listen to what God's purpose was for her, to become the author of the book, "I Have To Get Some Things Off My Chest" also, to use her fight with cancer and her relationship with God to become a motivational speaker. During this journey she was made a member of Jacksonville States women's softball team with complete access to a locker with her name, along with becoming a sister to the Zeta's. She beamed with pride, " I know the secret handshake." She took much pride in the Venecia's Foundation she started in order to bring comfort to those sitting in chemo chairs...bags packed with things she knew could bring comfort and a bright spot to a gloomy day. She just had that special gentleness to bring a smile to your face with the very essence of her presence. We know these words she would leave us ... "Be strong in the Lord and never give up hope. God's got his hand on you, so don't live life in fear. Forgive and forget but don't forget why you are here... find your purpose. Take your time and pray. Although I felt pain, I kept praying. Peace will find you I know cause I'm already there. From one simple life to another find peace in the Father and thank Him for each day. His love will guide you along the way. Be still and listen. These are the words I would say." We will gather in celebration of Venecia's going home with a positive that we will see her again ... what a beautiful angel awaits us. Looking down with that contagious smile and two thumbs up knowing her pallbearers will be Keith Reedy, Mike Langston, Michael Johnson, Mark Harper, Mikey Carroll and Scooter Franklin with honorary pallbearers Piedmont High School Class of 1982, Jacksonville State women's softball team and the Zeta's of Jacksonville State. Service will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Hill Crest Baptist Church in Anniston. Honoring her life will be speakers, the Rev. Jerry Graham, the Rev. Michael Ingram and Charlotte Epperson. Viewing will be Sunday from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Piedmont. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Venecia's Foundation, P.O.Box 572, Piedmont, AL 36272. Be sure to honor her request and wear your Crap shirt ... :"Crap I wish I could have brought you all to Heaven with me ... It's great !!!
