Ms. House was born July 4, 1921 in Sylvania, Alabama, the daughter of Grace and Harley Bradley. She moved to Anniston in 1940 when she married James E. House, eventually moving to Oxford in July 2010 to be closer to family. Ms. House was preceded in death by her husband, James E. House, after 56 years of marriage; son, James Harley House; parents, Grace and Harley Bradley; and special nephew that she claimed as her son, Glenn Higgins. Ms. House is survived by her daughters, Martha Jo House and Barbara House (Colvin) Glosson; son, David House, of Oxford; grandchildren, Sonja (Barry) Whitten, of Land-O Lakes, Fla., Susan (Donovan) Weldon, of Smithville, Texas, Michael (Tommie Sue) House, of Oxford, Keith (April) Burleson, of Rogers, Ark., Lou Ann Holland, Katelyn and Kennedy House, of Oxford; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lura Lyons, of Fort Payne; brother, Robert Bradley, of Fort Payne; and a host of family and friends. Ms. House had much influence on many people and was loved by many. She was proud of her family and her many faithful friends. As her great-grandson, Justin Weldon of Sydney, Australia stated when he heard of her passing, "Today one of the greatest people and influences in my life passed away, my great-grandmaw. Her life was a picture of unwavering loyalty and love for her God and family. A life we all should take note of. While sadness is healthy and natural, let today be marked with celebration. For one of heaven's own has made it home." Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael House, Keith Burleson, Barry Whitten, Donovan Weldon; and friends, Ray Bean, and Scott McGinnis. Honorary pallbearer will be Kennedy House. Ms. House attended Eastaboga Baptist Church, but her membership remained at Lloyd's Chapel Baptist Church where she was faithful member for 57 years. She retired from the State School system where she worked as a lunchroom worker at Saks High School for many years. The family would like to thank New Beacon Hospice for their special caring and kindness during Ms. House's last days. Chapel Hill Funeral Home will be servicing the House family 256-820-5151
