Services for Virgie Ray, 91, will be Sunday, December 17, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Byford Officiating. Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Ray passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Piedmont Health Care Center. Survivors include one daughter, Patti Needham (Charles) of Piedmont; one son, Michael Ray (Linda) of DeLand, FL.; four grandchildren, Amy Stinson (Chris), Julie Reeves (Matt), David Needham, and Kristen O'Brien (Michael); two great grandchildren, Ansley Stinson and Kylie Stinson; two brothers; and one sister. Mrs. Ray retired from So-Sew Styles in Centre where she worked as Quality Control Inspector until 1988. She was a member of the Piedmont Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was active in the Women's Ministry where she received a Golden Patron Membership for 50 years of service. Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband, Robert LeeCoy Ray. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Piedmont Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 23746 Highway 9 North, Piedmont, AL 36272.
