Graveside service for Virginia "Granny Snooks" Gowens, 84, will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Union Grove Methodist Church in Rock Run, with the Rev. Eric Snider officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Methodist Cemetery in Rock Run. The family will receive friends at K.L. Brown Funeral Home in Jacksonville this evening from 6-8. Mrs. Gowens died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Cleburne County Nursing. She is survived by her three daughters, Brenda (Art) Sevelius, Patricia (Bobby) Boozer and Mertis (Larry) Ward; nine grandchildren, Krystral (Jeremie) Brooks, Chris (Tammy) Boozer, Blu (Sandra) Gowens, Chad (Dawn) Reid, Annie (Heather) Sevelius, Brian (Wendy) Boozer, Artie (Leslie) Sevelius, Andy (Lacey) Ward and Bronson Ward; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chris Boozer, Blu Gowens, Chad Reid, Brian Boozer, Andy Ward, Bronson Ward, Artie Sevelius, Colton Reid and Jeremie Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be her son-in-laws, Art Sevelius and Larry Ward. Mrs. Gowens was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Gowens and her two sons, Troy and Nevin Gowens.
