Funeral service for Bro. Walter L. Toyer Sr., 66, will be 1 p.m. today, March 4, 2017, at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Bro. Gary Rhoden will officiate. Interment will be in the Jenifer Cemetery. Bro. Toyer served as an assistant minister for fifteen years at Jenifer Church of Christ. In 2005, he became the minister and served until his demise. Walter was employed with Southern Alloy Corporation with 38 years of service as plant supervisor. On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, Bro. Toyer was called to his eternal rest at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded by his parents, Lewis Toyer and Odessa Brown Toyer; a sister, Clara Conwell; a nephew, Grayling Ellis Mahan, and a niece, Tracy Mahan. He is survived by his wife, Alva Dean Toyer, of Munford; a son, Walter (Timeka) Toyer III, of Anniston; two daughters, Rasheedah Toyer, of Anniston and Wakeelah Toyer, of Munford; four precious grandchildren, William LeRay Eason Jr., Gavin Doss, Miracle Toyer and Brad Elliott Williams Jr.; three sisters, Sheryl (Elvert) Marsh, of Decatur, Peggy (George) Edwards, of Detroit, Mich. and Linda Toyer, of Anniston; three brothers, Leonard Mahan, of Detroit, Mich., Willie (Sadie) Mahan, of Talladega and Michael (Iris) Toyer, of Atlanta, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
