Funeral service for Mr. Walter Theodore Ponder, 100, will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Garry Ragsdale officiating with burial to follow at Anniston Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until service time. Mr. Ponder was born March 22, 1915 and passed on March 7, 2016 at his home in Alexandria. Mr. Ponder is survived by his wife of 76 years, Frankie Ponder; daughters, Linda Findley and Paula Lewis; grandchildren, Karon (Josh) Niblett, Sharon (J.J.) Johnson, Kristi (Jimmy) Dodd and Marianne (Alan) Forsyth; great-grandchildren, Tyler Burr, Tori Rae Stillwell, Shaw Niblett, Harper Niblett, Sky Niblett, Jay Michael Johnson, Zeke Johnson, Caleb Johnson, J.T. Forsyth, Andy Forsyth, Cody Dodd and Dalton Dodd and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tyler Burr, Jay Michael Johnson, Shaw Niblett, Josh Niblett, Alan Forsyth and Jimmy Dodd. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Adult Sunday School Class from Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Ponder is preceded in death by his father, Henry Tom Ponder; mother, Tossie Ponder; five sisters and seven brothers. Mr. Ponder was a native of Talladega County and moved to Calhoun County in 1946. Mr. Ponder was the last survivor of 13 children. He was a successful Dairy and poultry farmer, where he served on the Calhoun County Farmers Federation Board and was President for 21 years and many other farming committees. Mr. Ponder was the oldest living member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a graduate from Sylacauga High School. In lieu of flowers family requests donations to be made to Mt.
