Anniston - A Memorial Service for Mr. Wayne B. Cannon, 62, of Anniston, will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Cannon passed away on August 29, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham. Mr. Cannon was a native of Anniston. He was a 1968 graduate of Anniston High School and attended Jacksonville State University. Mr. Cannon served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. Following his retirement from the Anniston Army Depot, he loved camping, hunting, and taking his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews fishing. He was a member of several bass fishing and hunting clubs and was an antique car enthusiast. Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his son, Marshal Cannon; his daughter, Nicole Cannon McNair; his parents, Joseph and Doris Cannon; a sister, Judy Martinez; and his brothers, Warren, Ronald, and Daniel Cannon. Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife, Ellen Cannon, of Anniston; a daughter, Vicki Cannon Webb, of Valley Glen, Calif.; his grandchildren, PO3 Alex McNair, U.S. Navy, Natalie Webb, Nicholas Webb, and Mason Cannon; a brother, Joseph Cannon and his wife, Brenda, of Gulfport, Miss.; a sister, Rachel Williams and her husband, Fred, of Eufaula; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nicole Cannon McNair Memorial Nursing Scholarship, c/o JSU Foundation, Inc., 700 Pelham Road North, Rock House, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
