Service for Wayne Eual Ledbetter, 75, will be today, August 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Ledbetter and Mr. Kevin Kiser officiating. Burial will follow at Gnatville Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Ledbetter passed away Wednesday, August 09, 2016, at his home. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 of years, Jimmie Sue Ledbetter; son, Mike Ledbetter (Sandra) and daughter, Michelle Landers, all of Piedmont; five grandchildren, Tasha Roberts, Jonathan Wood (Amanda), Matthew Ledbetter, Payton Landers, and Zachary Kirby; three great- grandchildren, Brandon Roberts, Trista Wood and Kaley Wood; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Mathew Ledbetter, Jonathan Wood, Brandon Roberts, Yvonne Ledbetter, Bunk Maddox and Gary Hollingsworth. Mr. Ledbetter was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church and a 1960 graduate of Cherokee County High School. He attended Gadsden Trade School where he studied electrical repair. He was a former Boy Scout Master of Piedmont Troop 44. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, football and watching western movies. Mr. Ledbetter was employed at Goodyear Tire Company in Cedartown, Ga. for many years and retired from the City of Piedmont Water and Gas Department as a foreman. He was a local appliance repairman for many years and was known around town for inventing a remote controlled lawn mower. Mr. Ledbetter was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Ludamae Ledbetter and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and J.T. Kiser. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice.
