Wendell Collum, 64, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., today, June 1, 2016, at Hepsabah Baptist Church with Samuel Ball and Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in Hepsabah Cemetery. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Turley Collum, of Heflin; daughter, Traci Leigh (Samuel) Ball, of Temple, Ga.; sons, William Cody Collum, of Oxford and Matthew Blake (Taleah) Collum, of Delta; sister, Lorene Collum Jeffers, of Muscadine; half-brother, John Thomas Collum Jr., of Texas; step-brothers, Carlton Lowe, of Ohatchee and Dewey Lowe, of Iron City; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ball, Alex Ball, Paxton Ball, Zachary Ball, Jackson Collum and Logan Collum. Pallbearers will be Andrew Crook, Kyle Denkler, Anthony Hunter Justin Payne, Ethan Smith, Floyd Smith, Jamie Smith, Jeffrey Smith, and George Turley. Mr. Collum was a native of Texas and a resident of Alabama since 1960. He attended Anniston High School while living in Glen Addie. Wendell was a member of Hepsabah Baptist Church where he enjoyed working with the youth. He served in the National Guard and owned and operated his trucking company. He enjoyed fishing and little league baseball. Mr. Collum was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Irene McCormick Cooper; father, John Thomas Collum; step-father, Edward Gideon Lowe; half-sisters, Joann Collum Otwell and Barbara Jean Collum; step-sisters, Betty Lowe, Eleanor Adams and Pearl Thomas.
