Weyland "Dwight" Burton Jr. 50, passed away unexpectedly at 6:46 pm, Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Dwight was born January 25, 1967 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He was a 1985 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School and received his Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Jacksonville State University in 1989. Dwight was vice-president of distribution at Shoe Carnival and an Elder at Washington Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and all sports, especially Alabama football. Dwight was very involved in his community through several local business organizations. He will be deeply missed by his family, his church family, co-workers and many friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Edie (McLendon) Burton; sons, Trent Burton and Trevor Burton, all of Evansville; parents, Weyland Sr. and Carolyn (Frost) Burton, of Wellington; sisters, Jennifer Denson (Rodney) of Moody and Faith Burton of Wellington; brother, Jared Burton (Terria), of Chattanooga, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Conner and Logan Denson of Moody, and Grant, Kenlee, Isaac and Clara Joy Burton, of Chattanooga, Tenn. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2017 at Washington Avenue Church of Christ, 4001 Washington Ave, Evansville, with Stephen Rogers officiating. Burial was private.
