Funeral service for Mr. William Carl Branch, 76, will be Friday, April 25, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Reaves and David Tankersley officiating with burial following at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 11 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home. Mr. Branch passed away April 23, 2014, in Russellville, Ala. Mr. Branch is survived by wife, Willie M. Branch; daughter, Tina M. (Gregory) Sandell; son, Donnie K. (Angie) Branch; brothers, Dan (Marie) Branch and Bobby Branch; grandchildren, Derek K. Branch, Allison P. Branch and Jackie A. Sandell; mother-in-law, Vena Hill; sisters-in-law, Clara Berry and Bobbie (Curtis) Hicks; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Branch is preceded in death by his father, William Carl Branch; mother, Opal Branch; sister, Elizabeth Snellgrove; father-in-law, Alvin Hill. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mr. Branch was a native of Georgia and lived in Weaver for the past 38 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was retired from Anniston Army Depot and the U.S. Army; he was a Vietnam Veteran and served in Thailand. While serving in the Army he received the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, two Over Seas Service Bars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Expert Qualification Badge (Rifle M-14 and M-16).
