Service for Edward William "Ted" Houck, 82, will be Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at New Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Pike and the Rev. Kenneth Hutto officiating. Mr. Houck will lie in state one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Mr. Houck passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Noland Hospital. Survivors include three step-daughters, Virginia Parris (Harold), Barbara Fortenberry (Norris), and Melba Heard (Stanley), all of Rabbittown; niece, Marie Summer, of Anniston; four grandchildren, Shane Parris (Carmen), Jody Fortenberry (Amy), Wesley Fortenberry and Rodney Heard (Shannon), and four great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Gary Farmer, Shane Parris, Larry Moran, David Morris, Joe Bragg, and John Norton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cecil Burns and Ross Sims. Mr. Houck was a resident of Rabbittown most of his life. He retired from the U.S. Forestry Service and was a member of New Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Houck; parents; two brothers; and two sisters. thompsonfuneralhomepiedmont.com
