A Graveside Service for Mr. William Stanley Bell, 74, of Anniston, will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Forestlawn Gardens with Mr. Billy O'Brien officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Mr. Bell passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Bell was a 1958 graduate of Walter Wellborn High School where he excelled as a gifted and talented athlete. He was offered scholarships in both basketball and football and ultimately chose football at The University of Alabama in the beginning of the Paul W. "Bear" Bryant era. He was also a member of the "A" Club. Mr. Bell went on to graduate from The University in 1963. He helped coach little league sports, was a high school football official, a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Goodyear Golf Club, the Fiesta Dance Club and the Quarterback Club of Calhoun County. He had retired after 32 years from Goodyear as a foreman in the Truck and Tire Division. He was also a member of the Goodyear Top-10 Club. Mr. Bell is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Willie Maud Bell; parents-in-law, Loyce and Artie Mae Haynes; and brothers-in-law, Loyce Thomas "Tommy" Haynes Jr. and Paul Franklin Snider. Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Jane Haynes-Bell; sons, Stanley Gregory "Greg" Bell and William Jonathan "John" Bell, all of Gadsden; two grandsons, Austin Gregory Bell and John Garrett Bell, both of Lincoln; a brother, Lelton Bell and his wife, Sue, of Saks; sister-in-law, Dorothy Haynes-Snider, of Saks; an aunt, Evelyn Kilmartin of Anniston; three nieces, two nephews, many cousins and numerous close and loyal friends. Pallbearers will be Buddy Murphree, Bobby Pope, Robert Moore, Charlie Parks, Wayne Carden, Bryan Thrasher, Don Medders, Bobby Boswell, Terry Parker and Cecil Lewallyn. Honorary pallbearers will be the Walter Wellborn Class of 1958. The family wishes to give special thanks to his cousin, Jean Champion, Autumn Cove Assisted Living, Sissy Skinner, Andrea Miller and staff for the devoted care and support.
