Funeral service for Willie B. Ackles "Big Ten", 71, will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Springhill Baptist Church with Bishop D.K. Ackles and the Rev. Larry Heard officiating. Interment will follow in Youngs Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Ackles passed away on August 31, 2015 at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. Mr. Ackles's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. Mr. Ackles was a member of New Directions Ministries and Fresh Oil Worship Center. Survivors include his children, Shunda Williams, of Kansas City, Mo., Brenda (James) Brown, Shelia Ackles, Kimberly Wood and Gary Ackles, all of Lineville, Bobby (Sherlene) Ackles, of Saks, Bishop Darren (Wanda) Ackles, of Douglasville, Ga. and Steve Ackles, of Seattle, Wash.; siblings, Bernice (Matthew) Wood, Lois (David) Ervin, Jeanette Harris, Shelia (Anthony) Anderson and Elder Charles (Denise) Ackles; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elizabeth Heard Ackles; wife, Euna Maude Ackles; siblings, Annie Ruth Ware, Ruby Lee Prothro, Verline Ervin, Joe Floyd Ackles and Willie Lee Ackles.
