Funeral service for Willie Gladys Allen Carr, 85, will be on Monday, February 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie C. Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Carr passed away February, 4, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Mrs. Carr remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to her services. Mrs. Carr was a gentle, kind soul, known throughout her community by her "giving spirit" and her "matter of fact" ways. Survivors include her children. Sharon Allen Mims, Peggy (Rufus) Lewis, Robbin (Rick) Speight, Gary Allen, Scottie D. (Cynthia) Allen, Trena (Chester) Law and Barry (Virginia) Allen; her sister, Elizabeth Harris; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
