The funeral service for Mrs. Wilma Smith Byrd Cason, 91, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Parker Memorial Baptist Church DeArmanville Campus with the Reverend Joey Bentley and the Reverend James Benefield officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Ranburne. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Mrs. Cason passed away on September 1, 2016 at NHC. Mrs. Cason enjoyed working on arts and crafts. Sewing was one of her many talents. She used that talent to make clothes to send to Alaska. She also enjoyed photograph coloring, painting scenes in oil, and arranging flowers. Mrs. Cason also loved to travel. She was blessed to tour the East coast, Canada, England, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone National Park. Church was so important to Mrs. Cason. She had been a member of ten congregations over the years and had many dear friends in each of them. Mrs. Cason is preceded in death by two husbands, Lloyd Byrd and the Reverend Elmer Cason; an infant daughter, Sheila Byrd; her parents, Hamilton and Ophie Deese Smith; four sisters, Mildred Smith, Myrth Jackson, Orie Robertson and Ertis Spruill; a brother, Hurston Smith; a step daughter-in-law, Janice Cason, and a stepson, Larry Cason. Mrs. Cason is survived by two sons, Dwight and Sue Byrd and Stanley and Sharon Byrd; a granddaughter, Angela and Britt Weems; a stepson, Bob Cason; step-grandchildren, Jeff Cason, Charlotte Daniel, Creg Cason; step-great- grandchildren, Kyle and Maranda Cook, Brittney and Ashley Cason; and sisters, Agnes Rundus and Carolyn Cantrell. Flowers will be accepted or memorials be made to the Parker Memorial Baptist Church DeArmanville Campus, 4229 US Highway 78 East, Anniston, AL 36207. The family would especially like to thank Mrs. Cason's caregiver, Brenda Hamby and her special friend, Betty Turner, for the love and care given to her.
