Funeral services for Zelma Stitcher Wortham, 83, of Wedowee, will be held today, January 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. from Iduma Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Grove with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wortham will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 1 p.m. today, January 11, 2014. Mrs. Wortham passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Memory Lane Assisted Living in Bowdon, Georgia. Survivors include three sons, Jacky Wortham, Wayne Wortham, and Eugene Wortham, all of Wedowee; one sister, Christine Hill, of Heflin; one brother, Buford Stitcher, of Wedowee; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Sam Gross, Trey Rayfield, Reid Wortham, Nathan Wortham, Toby Stitcher, Alan Stitcher, and Dale Holloway. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Wortham was born on January 30, 1930, the daughter of Bryce and Mae Holloway Stitcher. She was a member of Iduma Congregational Methodist Church and was a seamstress at Bremen-Bowden Investments. Mrs. Wortham was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Wortham; one brother, Jessie Edward Stitcher; and one sister.
