Funeral service for Mr. Robert Ray Adams, 73, of Oxford will be 3 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Brother Carl Dishman officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Adams died Saturday morning at Trinity Hospital. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Opal Sue Adams; daughter Candy Adams Dodd; sons, Steven Ray Adams and wife, Stacy, Robert Shun Adams and Howard Shane Adams; grandchildren, Shay Adams Chapman, Jonathan Shane Adams, Donald Ray Dodd, Braden Ray, Jacy Lynn Adams and Steven Day Adams; great-grandchildren, Brian Clayton Chapman, and Taylor Alison Chapmen; sister, Frankie Williams, and niece, Kimberly Lovitt and husband, Josh. Mr. Adams is preceded is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mary Adams; sister, Charolett Gibson, brothers, Charles "Bud" Adams and Roger Adams. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Shane Adams, Donald Ray Dodd, Braden Ray, Mark Meadowbrook, Britt Meadowbrook, and Chuck Hidrick. Honorary Pallbearers will be Oxford Senior Citizens. Mr. Adams was a longtime resident of Oxford. He was a lovely husband, father, grandfather and pop. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Adams' adopted daughter Florence "Flo" Simmons for all love and support.
