Saks - A visitation for Mr. Merton T. "Tom" Akers Jr., 84, of Saks, will be Monday, May 7, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Akers passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at RMC in Anniston. Mr. Akers is survived by his wife, Patricia F. Akers; daughters, Melanie O'Hern and Gail Akers; sons, David Akers, Eddie (Wendy) Akers, Jerry (Autumn) Akers; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Akers was a native of Missouri, but had lived in Calhoun County for the past 43 years, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was awarded the Victory Ribbon. Mr. Akers was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Akers; and his parents Merton T. Akers Sr. and Helen J. Akers.
