LTC William E. "Bill" Dobbs, born September 18, 1946 in Anniston, Ala., died June 19, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve from 1968 until his retirement in 2002. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was a police officer of Anniston, Ala. for two years, with continued police service in Dallas, Texas. He later served as an investigator for the state of Texas until his retirement. Bill was an avid reader and history buff, devoted husband, father and grandfather with a special place in his heart for his two puppies. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Rebecca Clark Dobbs; son, William R. Dobbs; daughter, Jennifer Gann; grandchildren, Haylee, Alexis, Ashton, Austin and Nicky and sister, Barbara Rollins, of Heflin. A special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. A special thanks to his nurse, Kelly Yarbrough and aide, Loretta for making the road of darkness brighter. God bless you. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Bro. Darrell Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens.
