Funeral service for Evelyn Laney Sutton, 83, formerly of Jacksonville, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sammy Ligon officiating. Burial will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Sutton died January 29, 2014 in Powhatan, Virginia. Survivors include her son, Phil Silvey and his wife, Melody, of Powhatan, Va.; two grandchildren Adam Silvey and April Silvey; one greatgrandchild, Cassie Anne Silvey; one brother, Doug Laney and his wife, Irma, of Ohatchee; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sutton; a son, Rickey Langley; her parents, Cremer and Ola Laney; three sisters, Pearlie Stone, Ruby Laney and Doris Nunnelley; four brothers, Grady, Fred, Thomas and Forney Laney. Mrs. Sutton was a native of Calhoun County and lived in Tulsa, Okla. for many years. After retirement she returned to Jacksonville for several years then moved to Powhatan, Va. to live with her son and his family. She was of the Baptist faith and attended West Point Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mrs. Sutton will be missed by all who loved her.
