Graveside service for Robert E. "Bob" Gabriel, 78, of Alexandria, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. Gabriel died Saturday evening at Gadsden RMC. Survivors include his wife, of 58 years, Faye Gabriel; daughters, Marie Freeman and Lynne Quick (Sonny); son, Pete Gabriel; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Lunette Cadenhead; brothers, Thomas Gabriel (Clarice) and Billy Gabriel; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gabriel is preceded in death by his parents, Lizzie Mae Gabriel and Frank Gabriel; brothers, Frank Gabriel Jr. and John Gabriel. Pallbearers will be nephews. Mr. Gabriel retired from U.S. Pipe after 23 years of service. He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, raising quail and NASCAR. He loved all his family including children, grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren. The family would like to intend special thanks to Dr. Tamara McIntosh and her staff and also Mr. Gabriel's Alacare nurse Mark Duckworth.
