Mrs. Zella Pruitt Stepps, 95, she passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the residence of her son. Funeral service were held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Smith and the Rev. Bill Gandy officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Cherokee County Rescue Squad or the Piedmont Rescue Squad. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Stepps of Centre; daughters, Shelby Eichert and Wilma Plants of Rome, Ga., Marie Wright, of Centre, Judy Winkles, of Piedmont; brother, Lamon "Jack" Pruitt of Smyrna, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Tracy and Suzanne Bishop and Brian and Cindy Perry. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Stepps was a native of Cleburne County, the daughter, of the late Harrison and Bessie Copeland Pruitt and was retired from Cedar Bluff Manufacturing.
