James Arnold Thompson, 83, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Jackson and the Rev. W.E. Jones Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be today, May 31, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 7 P.M. Survivors include his daughters, Charlotte Rider, of Heflin, Lisa (Tim) Keeton, of Lecta, Ala.; Sons, Greg (Gina) Thompson, of Heflin, Gerry (Lora) Thompson, of Spartanburg, S.C., Larry (Barbara) Thompson, of Bowdon, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chase Thompson, Jason Bearden, Butch Webb, Roy Pesnell, Chase Howle and David Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a native and life long resident of Cleburne County and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He loved football, especially, Alabama and Cleburne County. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, W.W. "Bill" and Rebecca Thompson; sister, Annie Lou Pullen; brother, Emory Thompson; special friend, Bonnie Anderson and son-in-law Michael Rider.
