A memorial service for Bobby Ray Goins, 65, of Roswell, Ga. will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Interment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Bob passed away Monday, August 4, 2014, at his home in Roswell after a recent battle with leukemia. Bob was born in Kyoto, Japan and grew up in the Calhoun County area. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville State University. His career led him to relocate to several states before him and his wife settled in Roswell, where he was an executive with OmniSource Corporation. Bob's leisure time was spent in the company of his and his wife's circle of longtime, devoted friends where he shared his culinary skills as "Master Chef" and "Activities Director" whenever the friends gathered. Traveling, visiting art galleries, and becoming an avid painter himself was also among Bob's many interests. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends and greatly admired for his uncomplaining strength and courage. Bob is preceded in death by his father, L.B. Goins. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Ledbetter Goins; his mother, Eseyo Kay Goins Penny, of Florence; a son, Jason Goins, of Olive Branch, MS; a daughter Jennifer Goins York, of Olive Branch, Miss.; two younger brothers, Thomas Goins, of Walpole, N.H. and William Goins, of Florence; and granddaughters Lydia and Ella Goins and Sydney and Piper York.
